McAllister Spa Brings PhiBrows Microblading to Miami Beach

McAllister Spa Brings PhiBrows Microblading to Miami Beach

Are You Ready to Reach Your #BrowGoals?

It’s no secret that eyebrows can make or break your beauty look. From arched and feathered to straight and bold, brows are undeniably one of your face’s most defining features. If you’ve tried every pencil, powder, pigment, gel, and stencil and you’re not satisfied with the ones you have, microblading – a more permanent solution for sparse brows – may be just the thing for you. McAllister Spa is bringing the PhiBrow eyebrow embroidery technique to Miami Beach.

While a slew of celebs and beauty insiders including Olivia Palermo and Bella Hadid have brought the microblading craze to the limelight over the past year, the technique is far from new. Asian women have been indulging in this form of eyebrow artistry for hundreds of years and the technique has more recently gained a loyal following across Russia and Europe.

So, What is Microblading Exactly? Let Us Explain…

Offering a natural, undetectable fringe in stark contrast for the sharpie-esque aftereffects of brow tattooing of years past, microblading uses a special sterilized pen to manually deposit pigment under the superficial layers of the skin in individual, hair-like strokes to mimic the pattern of the eyebrows natural hairs. The results can last up to eighteen months with minimal maintenance.

How is Microblading Accomplished?

Prior to application, McAllister’s PhiBrow certified artists carefully calculate the shape of the eyebrow according to the “golden intersection” and face morphology to determine the look most complementary to each individual client’s facial structure. This process is conducted while the client’s eyes are closed to relax muscles that can affect the eyebrow’s symmetry. When a client has very few natural hairs, the artist will employ the PhiFusion technique, combining machine technique with manual application, to create the illusion of shadows and improve perceived volume.

Once the ideal eyebrow structure has been determined, McAllister’s PhiBrow professional will take to the PhiBrush with a custom mix of high-quality pigment to match each client’s skin and hair. Each artist undergoes intensive PhiBrow training and possesses a masterful knowledge of color theory to ensure a perfect shade every time.

You may be thinking this process sounds a bit painful, but think again! Before treatment begins, a McAllister’s brow guru will apply a topical liquid anesthetic to the area to minimize most discomfort.

Why is Microblading the Best Eyebrow Solution Around?

Perhaps microblading’s most appealing selling point, the process yields no down time, leaving you with instantly selfie-status brows. Immediately following microblading treatment, eyebrows will appear sharp and dark, but will fade over the first two weeks to a natural, makeup-free look. The treatment is low maintenance and minimal special care is required with the exception of a brief touch-up every now and again (this varies based on the skin’s oil production).

Long story short, whether you’ve got a little or a lot of hair, microblading can help you achieve your ultimate #BrowGoals in a matter of minutes.

Our Stylists Share Tips on Care of Hair Extensions

If you have been thinking about thickening those tresses, but you just don’t know what to expect, here’s a little window into our extraordinary extensions!  First, to guarantee a long-lived look, it’s essential to practice good technique. “What are proper maintenance techniques?” you might ask… Let us enlighten you! Straight from the McAllister stylists, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of do’s and don’ts when it comes to extending the life of your newly-acquired luxe locks.

Shampoo With Care

It’s critical to wash human hair extensions with only sulfate-free or paraben-free shampoo, specifically on the roots. Lather hair gently and work the shampoo down the hair. Rinse and blot hair gently and if shampooing at night, make sure hair is completely dry before going to bed.

Get The Right Tools

Trade your traditional brush for a looper brush, designed with looped bristles to gently glide through hair extensions. Start at the ends and work your way up, always brushing in a downward motion. To keep hair from matting, give strands a pre-shampoo comb through.

Steer Clear of Oils

Oil-based products can break down the glue found on extension tape, weakening the bond between the hair and tape, causing them to fall out prematurely.  Hair oils also have a way of moving down along the shaft your natural hair, sliding in between the layers of tape and this loosens the tape’s grip on your natural hair. Whenever possible, try to use styling products from mid-shaft to ends, steering clear of the tape tabs completely.

Reconsider Your Sleeping Conditions

To prevent unnecessary matting and tangling, consider wrapping hair up in a satin scarf or swapping out your traditional pillowcase for a satin version, known to minimize friction and prevent tangling.

Trust the Professionals

Last but CERTAINLY not least, have a licensed professional remove and reapply your extensions. All McAllister hair stylists are dually certified by HairTalk & HotHeads Hair companies. Tape extensions typically maintain a luxurious look for 8 to 12 weeks depending on your hair growth. We always recommend a visit 6 weeks after placement so that your stylist can quickly inspect your taped tabs and give you an idea of when you should book your re-taping appointment. So whether your hair is naturally thin or you’re just looking to achieve a little extra length of fullness, it’s time to talk with your stylist about our variety of hair extensions options – from tape extensions to keratin bonded extensions and beyond. Stay Foxy, Not Frizzy This Summer

Stay Foxy, Not Frizzy This Summer

5 Simple Solutions for Keeping A Manageable Mane in Miami’s Humid Climate

While we all love summer, the season is home to myriad of beauty challenges we often struggle to overcome. Between unsightly tan lines, painful sunburns and enough bug bites to make a girl go insane, perhaps the most daunting challenge during the muggy months is fighting off frizzy hair.

Not to worry. With a bit of preplanning and strategic beauty routine swaps, it is possible to tame a misbehaving and frizzy mane.

We’ve tapped our top talent for their simple solutions for taming tresses in the South Florida humidity:

Spring For a Goldwell Kerasilk Treatment

Kick off the summer with smoother, more manageable strands by treating yourself to a Goldwell Kerasilk treatment. The miracle, two-component system redefines traditional keratin treatments, by making them suitable for all textures. Gone are the days of one uniform look. From curly to pin straight, depending on the way your stylist builds the formula, Kerasilk can be used to make your everyday style a little less frizzy. Best of all, the treatment lasts up to five months – enough to get you through summer and then some!

Sport a Humidity-Friendly Style

Braids are your new best friend and the secret weapon for fending off frizz. Avoid flyaways by securing your style with a touch of flexible hold wax (nobody likes hairline frizzies). DIY with one of the many YouTube tutorials out there, or (better yet) leave it to the professionals and drop by McAllister Spa’s StyleLab for a quick and simply hair braid for a budget-friendly $25 style.

Embrace Your Natural Hair Texture

Try working with your natural hair texture, not against it. Since hair has natural memory, you can blow, curl, and straighten ”˜till the end of time, but your style will immediately revert to its natural texture the moment it’s exposed to humidity. Save yourself time and a huge headache by going au naturale. For a chic, beachy style, spritz damp strands with a salt spray (try Kevin.Murphy HAIR.RESORT.SPRAY), divide hair into four sections, twist from root to end and tie back into a low bun. Let hair loose once it’s dry to reveal effortless, South Beach approved waves.

Practice Good Technique

If you absolutely must blow dry your own hair (never recommended but we knows it’s inevitable sometimes), be sure to do so with proper technique. A good blowout starts with the right brush. Look for a round option with dense, natural, uneven bristles, which will provide enough tension on the hair to provide smooth end results. Pull hair taut with the brush and point the dryer down the hair shaft to avoid fluffing up the cuticle. Blast with cool air to set the style and spritz with a light hold hairspray (try Kevin.Murphy SESSION.SPRAY) to lock in your hard work.
