The First Customizable Smoothing Treatment
Brazilian Blowout (BB) is the brand that started the sensation back in 2010. At the time, its treatments were the most effective hair treatments found anywhere. Brazilian Blowout was the first company to introduce the idea that smoothing treatments could be customized by hair stylists to the preferences of salon clients. Brazilian Blowouts were (and still are) amazing hair treatments that use protein bonding processes to create a protective layer around each hair that smoothed the hair cuticle and thus eliminated frizz while controlling (but not eliminating) the hair’s natural fullness, curl and body.
The Benefits of Brazilian Blowout
- BB was the first hair smoothing treatment that allowed McAllister stylists to keep client’s curls while eliminating the frizzy, fly-away hair; this led to the smoothest possible result.
- BB works for all hair types, whether kinky/curly or fine/straight.
- BB never permanently alters curly hair client’s curl pattern. The relaxed and smoothed look of curls will disappear in about 12 weeks (just in time for another Brazilian Blowout hair treatment).
- BB hair treatments take just 90 minutes from start to finish, and you leave the salon with washed and wearable hair. No “mandatory” three day waiting periods as you would find with traditional keratin treatments. Finish up your hair appointment at McAllister Spa and head straight to the beach for a dip in the ocean or out to Lincoln Road with your hair clipped up.
A Few Questions Answered Regarding Brazilian Blowout
Who is the best candidate for this smoothing treatment?
A wide variety of hair salon clients should consider hair smoothing treatments. McAllister stylists have found that any client that is struggling to manage hair styling because of a naturally frizzy condition, chemical damage or as a result of over processing will benefit from the use Brazilian Blowout. The stylists at McAllister Spa have a variety of hair treatment options and the appropriate one will be recommended based upon a professional consultation and examination of your hair. In fact, after such a conversation, Brazilian Blowout may not be the recommended treatment as all McAllister hair stylists are also certified in the use of Goldwell’s Kerasilk, Olaplex, Keratin Complex and several others.
What kind of look will you get from a Brazilian Blowout?
The biggest change our hair salon’s clients notice is that the frizz is gone! Hair after the use of Brazilian Blowout is shiny and smooth and much more easily managed. And the biggest difference between customizable smoothing treatments such as Brazilian Blowout from traditional keratin treatments is that the client still has the freedom to wear their hair with a natural wave or to add curls during a blowout.
Can I still receive a Brazilian Blowout if I have highlights and/or color?
Yes. Brazilian Blowouts actually improve the health of color-treated and highlighted hair by sealing the cuticle after coloring for enhanced color, reduced frizz and radiant shine. So feel free to add a Brazilian Blowout after that amazing balayage or loud ombre!
Can you color your hair the same day you receive a Brazilian Blowout?
Yes. The sequence of services matters however so please make sure your McAllister stylists knows you wish to color your hair FIRST before the application of Brazilian Blowout treatment. If you intend to color your hair AFTER your smoothing treatment, we recommend you wait a minimum of two weeks.
Is the Brazilian Blowout going to make my hair straight?
No, not really. If you have straight hair, it will remain straight. And if your hair is naturally wavy, this treatment will smooth those waves and you your hair appear smoother and that may result in the appearance of straighter hair (but the hair will not be stick straight as you would expect after a keratin treatment). If your natural hair is curly, you will maintain a natural and soft curl that lacks the frizz that so commonly drives McAllister’s salon clients crazy!
How long does the Brazilian Blowout last?
Brazilian Blowout can last up to 10 weeks in the experience of McAllister stylists. That time will vary based upon exposure to salt, chlorine and other environmental stressors. The types of shampoos, conditioners and styling products used at home also matters a great deal.
What’s Going on over on Brazilian Blowout’s Instagram?
To figure out what’s new and next from the hair geniuses over at BB, we do two things: 1. we get the inside scoop from friends of ours who happen to be national educators, and 2. we follow them over on Instagram to see what they are posting and chatting about.
