Can hair be colored before the keratin treatment?

Yes. Immediately after permanent hair color, semi-permanent hair processes or hair highlighting (like balayages, ombres or partial highlights) is the perfect time to do a keratin treatment.

The keratin treatment will seal the color in and actually extend the length of time your hair color remains vibrant and spectacular.

Can a keratin treatment be done on hair that has already been chemically treated, previously relaxed or otherwise straightened?

Yes, it is possible in most cases. McAllister’s stylists however typically recommend you wait a minimum of two weeks between chemical services to ensure your hair remains healthy and beautiful.

What should be done if the hair gets wet during the 72-hour waiting period?

Is the reapplication of the treatment done on the entire head or just on the new growth?

Repeating the keratin treatment should be done on the entire head as the build-up of keratin can only improve, not harm, the hair.

Should the hair be cut before or after the treatment?

McAllister stylists typically prefer to cut the hair after the treatment, as the hair will have a smoother texture and will lie differently after the treatment, but there may be reasons that guide your stylist to cut first and apply the keratin treatment afterward.
