Arrive on time!
When you make an appointment with us, you decide the time and day you want to come get your hair done. Once our appointment has been set up, it’s essential that you show up on time!
Unfortunately, arriving late enough means you could even lose your time slot in the salon. We will set aside an appropriate amount of time for your hairstyle, so if you show up late, you are cutting that time short. And think about it, do you really want your hairstylist to be rushing through your haircut? Hopefully not!
It’s best to arrive a few minutes before the determined time and allow the stylist to get the work done in the proper time scheduled for it. The stylist will be able to put all the care in the world into your hair to leave it looking gorgeous and you will be satisfied when you leave. The time will be worth it, we promise!
Dress normally!
When you’re going to a salon, there’s no need to get all dressed up. By wearing an outfit you wouldn’t normally wear, the stylist might end up suggesting a hairstyle or color that doesn’t really suit your real clothing style!
To avoid this, just dress how you do on a day-to-day basis. The stylist can see your usual wardrobe and help you decide on the right hairstyle or color that’ll suit your clothes and color scheme, making sure you will look great everyday afterwards.

If you have been thinking about thickening those tresses, but you just don’t know what to expect, here’s a little window into our extraordinary extensions! First, to guarantee a long-lived look, it’s essential to practice good technique. “What are proper maintenance techniques?” you might ask… Let us enlighten you! Straight from the McAllister stylists, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of do’s and don’ts when it comes to extending the life of your newly-acquired luxe locks.
Shampoo With Care
It’s critical to wash human hair extensions with only sulfate-free or paraben-free shampoo, specifically on the roots. Lather hair gently and work the shampoo down the hair. Rinse and blot hair gently and if shampooing at night, make sure hair is completely dry before going to bed.
Get The Right Tools
Trade your traditional brush for a looper brush, designed with looped bristles to gently glide through hair extensions. Start at the ends and work your way up, always brushing in a downward motion. To keep hair from matting, give strands a pre-shampoo comb through.
Steer Clear of Oils
Oil-based products can break down the glue found on extension tape, weakening the bond between the hair and tape, causing them to fall out prematurely. Hair oils also have a way of moving down along the shaft your natural hair, sliding in between the layers of tape and this loosens the tape’s grip on your natural hair. Whenever possible, try to use styling products from mid-shaft to ends, steering clear of the tape tabs completely.
Reconsider Your Sleeping Conditions
To prevent unnecessary matting and tangling, consider wrapping hair up in a satin scarf or swapping out your traditional pillowcase for a satin version, known to minimize friction and prevent tangling.

Yulia’s Hair Styling Tips
McAllister’s amazing stylist, Yulia Tyan, took a little time last week to give us a quick lesson on how to style a few eye-catching simple summer updos.
These step-by-step instructions will help you create a fun summer hair style that suits you just perfectly.
And as always, if it doesn’t quite work out like the pictures, Yulia is available Wednesday-Sunday to recreate these hairstyles (and many more) in no time at all.
Simple Upstyle
This quick updo is great when you have only a few minutes to spare and are headed out into the summer’s heat!
STEP 1
This updo starts with clean and dry hair. If it’s been a day or two since your last shampoo, KMS California’s HairPlay Dry Touch-Up is an instant, weightless surface conditioner that instantly revives dry or overworked hair and is a perfect first step to prepare the hair for this hair style.
STEP 2
Section your hair into 3 sections (as pictured).
STEP 3
Create a ponytail using the central section and tie it in a knot over.
STEP 4
Then, create a second single ponytail using other two sections and knot over.
STEP 5
Use these two ponytails and knot them over until you reach them the ends.
STEP 6
Pin as needed and desired.
STEP 7
To finish this hairstyle, finish with KMS’ HairStay Anti-Humidity Seal and KMS’ HairPlay Playable Texture.
Braided Flower Bun
STEP 1
This style is super quick and takes less than two minutes, provided you know a basic plait and how to create a Dutch braid.
Start this updo with a Dutch braid on a small side section creating a loose and casual braid. Secure this braid with a clip at the end.
STEP 2
Then, create a loose plait braid using all of the remaining hair. Secure the end of this braid with an elastic band.
STEP 3
Wrap the loose plait braid around itself, creating a beautiful section that resembles a flower, and pin it in place with Bobby pins.
STEP 4
Then take your Dutch braid from the side and and wrap it around the flower-shaped bun. Secure with Bobby pins. Don’t forget to tuck the ends in.
STEP 5
To finish the this braided updo, again finish with finish with KMS’ HairStay Anti-Humidity Seal and KMS’ HairPlay Playable Texture.
