1. Bring photos — even imperfect ones

A picture beats ten minutes of description. Bring two or three photos of hair you love, and — this is the underrated one — a photo of hair you don't want. Your stylist learns as much from the second pile as the first. 2. Come as you actually live

If you air-dry and go, don't arrive freshly blown out. Your stylist should see your hair the way it spends most of its life, because that's the hair the cut has to work on Tuesday morning — not just under salon lights. 3. Tell the whole color history
