Body and Bikini Waxing in Miami Beach

Waxing is the most straightforward service on the menu and the one people arrive with the most wrong information about. Almost all of it comes down to one variable nobody mentions: how long the hair is when you walk in.

The rule that decides everything

Wax needs something to hold on to. About a quarter of an inch — roughly two weeks of growth — is the point where it lifts the hair cleanly at the follicle instead of snapping it at the surface. Shorter than that and the strip skids over the top, which is where "it grew back in three days" comes from. It did not grow back. It was never removed.

This is the whole reason not to shave between appointments. Shaving cuts at the surface and resets the clock, so a shave four days before a wax guarantees a poor result. If you are going to wax, let it grow. It is two uncomfortable weeks once, and then the cycle is yours.

Regrowth also changes with repetition. Hair pulled from the follicle comes back finer and less densely than hair that has been cut, so the fourth appointment is a genuinely easier and slower-growing experience than the first. That is not a sales line, it is how the follicle responds.

What it costs

Body waxing is priced by area, so you pay for what you actually want done.

  • Bikini line — $30
  • Brazilian — $50
  • Underarms — $15
  • Full legs with feet — $55
  • Full back — $50
  • Full face — $50

The full waxing menu lists every area individually, including the small ones people are often shy about asking for by name. Ask for the area. Nobody here is going to react.

Booking it around a beach day

Skin is pink and a little raised for a few hours after a wax, and warm salt water and sand on freshly waxed skin is genuinely unpleasant. Two days ahead is the sweet spot: the redness is long gone, the result is at its cleanest, and you are not gambling on how your skin settles.

For an event, the same rule with more margin — two to three days before, never the morning of. And skip the sauna, the hot tub and a heavy workout for the first day. Heat and friction on freshly opened follicles is what causes the bumps people blame on the wax itself.

When not to wax

Wax removes a fine layer of skin along with the hair, which makes a few situations a firm no rather than a preference.

If you use a retinoid, tretinoin or acid on an area, that skin is already turning over faster than usual and wax can lift more than intended. Stop the product on that area a week out, or thread the face instead. If you are on isotretinoin, waxing is off the table entirely until well after you finish — that is a dermatologist's timeline, not ours. Sunburn is also a no; so is skin that is broken, irritated or newly tattooed.

None of this needs a phone call to sort out. Say what you use when you book and the answer takes ten seconds.

Who does it here

Waxing is one pair of hands at McAllister Spa. Marlene Fonticoba is a Full Specialist with over a decade in the industry, and waxing is what guests request her for — face, body and bikini, all three. She also works across the nail menu and skin treatments, and she sees guests in English and Spanish.

Keeping it with one person is deliberate. Waxing is a rhythm — the temperature of the wax, the direction of the pull, how quickly the skin is held after the strip comes off — and someone doing it every day is simply better at it than someone doing it occasionally. It also means you are not explaining yourself again to somebody new every eight weeks.
