Halloween on Ocean Drive — The Hair Plan

South Beach does not treat Halloween as a children's holiday. Ocean Drive becomes a costume parade, every venue runs something, and hair does more of the work than most people plan for.

The date

Saturday, October 31, 2026 — and because it falls on a Saturday, expect the weekend either side to run hot as well. That also means the 30th and 31st are the two busiest styling days of the month, and they book out.

What you can get on the day

Styling is the same-day category. A blowout starts from $70, and event styling — pinned, sculpted, structured, whatever the costume demands — is booked as styling work rather than off a price list, because it depends entirely on what you're building.

Retro and period looks are worth calling out. Finger waves, pin curls and 1930s and 40s sets are genuinely technical, and they're the most-requested Halloween styling here after the Art Deco crowd. If that's the plan, book it as styling with time allowed rather than as a blowout.

What needs a week's notice

Anything involving colour. This is the part people get wrong every year.

A vivid panel, a temporary transformation, a bold streak — on most hair, getting to a colour that will actually show requires lightening first. That's a two-step process, and compressing it into October 30th is how hair gets damaged for a costume worn once.

If you want real colour for Halloween, book a consultation the week before at the latest. Balayage and colour work start from $240 and from $110 respectively, and the Olaplex Bond Multiplier Service is a $50 add-on that's worth taking on any lift.

The honest advice about one-night colour

If the look is for one night, say so — it changes the recommendation. There are semi-permanent and wash-out routes that give you the effect without committing your hair to months of grow-out, and a colorist who knows the deadline will steer you there rather than to a full lift.

What we'd rather you didn't do is buy a box of bleach on the 30th. Correcting that in November costs considerably more than the colour would have.

Costume hair without touching your hair

Worth saying plainly: wigs exist, and for a lot of Halloween looks they're the better answer. They also spare your actual hair a chemical process for a single evening. We'll happily style around one, and we'll tell you honestly when that's the smarter route.

The practical bit

We're at 1301 Alton Road, minutes from Ocean Drive, with free parking — which on Halloween night is not a small consideration. Open until 9PM Thursday through Saturday, so an evening appointment on the 30th or 31st is genuinely possible.

Text a photo of the look you want to (305) 604-0550 and we'll tell you what's realistic and what it costs before you book.

The rest of the season — Thanksgiving, Art Basel, the holidays — is on our Miami Beach calendar, and every price is on the full menu.
