McAllister Spa Recognized by American Salon Magazine

The November 2014 edition of American Salon Magazine included McAllister Spa in its "Our Town" section, acknowledging the salon as one of Miami Beach's best. It was four years after we opened, and it was the first national trade publication to take notice.

What the feature said

The magazine described the salon as it was then: housed in a converted historic villa, offering cuts, highlights, blowouts, color, straightening treatments, extensions, and eyebrow and eyelash tinting. It noted the 2,000-square-foot space, the wooden floors and bold furnishings, and a staff that was — in the magazine's words — always brainstorming new services.

The line that mattered most to us was the one from the owner:

"The most rewarding part of owning a salon is being able to carry on my great-great-grandfather's legacy by perpetuating the warm hospitality synonymous with our family name."

That sentence is still the shortest honest description of what this building is for.

What has held since

The villa is the same villa. The address is the same address — 1301 Alton Road, with the same free parking. The menu has grown well past what a 2014 feature could list: balayage and color correction, extensions in three lines, curly and textured hair as a discipline with named specialists, keratin and smoothing, HydraFacials and advanced skincare, threading, PhiBrows microblading, and a full nail salon.

The hospitality line has held too, which is the part we would most want a 2014 reader to know. Every service still begins with a free consultation, and the floor still runs seven days a week, including the Sundays and Mondays much of Miami Beach takes off.
