SOBEWFF 2027 — Looking Right for Four Days Outdoors

The South Beach Wine & Food Festival is four days of being photographed outdoors while holding a glass. That combination — outdoor, all day, camera everywhere — asks something specific of a look, and it is not what a ballroom asks.

The dates

February 25–28, 2027, its 25th anniversary edition. Tastings, dinners and the beach tents that are the festival's signature, most of them not indoors.

Beach tents are humidity with a wine list

This is the honest framing. The marquee events happen on sand, under canvas, with ocean air moving through. Hair that was perfect at 6pm is negotiating with the atmosphere by 8pm, and there is no green room to fix it in.

Two approaches actually work, and they are different bets.

Change the hair's behaviour. A smoothing treatment means the humidity has far less to work with. Express keratin starts from $275, Brazilian Blowout and Goldwell Kerasilk from $350. Book two to three weeks before the festival — not the week of, because these want time to settle.

Or change the style. A structured updo does not care about humidity in the way loose waves do, because there is nothing loose to disturb. If you are doing multiple events across four days, an updo for the tent events and a blowout for the seated dinners is a more reliable plan than one style asked to do both.

Booking around four consecutive days

The mistake is treating it as one event. It is four, and the services stack differently:

• Colour belongs two to three weeks out. If you are going lighter for the festival, that is a process, and doing it responsibly can take two appointments. Balayage starts from $240, full highlights from $270.
• Smoothing, two to three weeks out. Same reason.
• Cuts, one to two weeks out — a cut looks better on day five than day one.
• Blowouts, manicures and skin, the week of. A blowout from $70, gel manicure from $49, and the Signature HydraFacial at $185, which is the morning-of option because it has no downtime.

The thing about food photography

You will be photographed holding things. Hands are in more shots at this festival than at any other event on the Miami Beach calendar, which is a genuine argument for booking nails you would otherwise skip. Gel or dip rather than regular polish, because four days of glasses, plates and handshakes is hard on a manicure.
