Festival hair is its own genre, and the brief is unusually specific: it has to survive twelve hours of heat, movement and crowd, and photograph well the entire time. That is a harder ask than a wedding.
The dates
Ultra Music Festival runs March 26–28, 2027, but the week around it is the real event. Miami Music Week fills the city with pool parties, showcases and rooftop sets from the Monday onward, which means most people need a look that works for five or six days rather than one weekend.
Braids are the workhorse
There is a reason braids dominate festival styling: they are the only category that genuinely improves under those conditions. A braided style holds its shape through heat and dancing, keeps hair off your neck when it is 85 degrees in a crowd, and looks deliberate on day three in a way loose hair does not.
They also book out fast this week — braiding is time-intensive work and the calendar fills before the festival does. If braids are your plan, book early rather than the week of.
Vivid colour needs a head start
The single most common Music Week mistake is asking for bright colour a few days out. On most hair, vivid is a two-step process: lighten first, then deposit the tone. Doing that responsibly is not something to compress into one appointment on a deadline.
Start three weeks out if you are going bright. That gives room for two sessions if your hair needs them. And take the Olaplex Bond Multiplier Service at $50 — lightening to a level that will hold vivid colour is exactly the situation bond protection exists for. We wrote about what it actually does.
If you want the colour without the commitment, say so at the consultation. There are semi-permanent routes that fade out over weeks instead of growing out over months, and which one suits you depends on your hair's history.
The rest of the plan
A cut, one to two weeks ahead. Festival styling sits better on a shape that was cut for it.
Smoothing, if frizz is your enemy. Late March in Miami is warm and humid, and a crowd of forty thousand people generates its own weather. An express keratin from $275 or a full treatment from $350 means less fighting each morning across a long week.
A HydraFacial before, not after. Five days of sun, late nights and dehydration show on skin. The Signature HydraFacial at $185 has no downtime, so it works the morning of — though honestly, the week after Music Week is when most people need it.
For inspiration rather than a plan, our 177 hairstyle ideas page is the place to find a name for what you want, which makes the consultation faster.
Practical things
We are at 1301 Alton Road with free parking in our own lot, open seven days a week — including the Sunday and Monday of Music Week when a lot of the Beach is closed or recovering.
Bring a photo. Vivid colour and festival styling are both areas where "something bold" means five different things, and a picture settles it in seconds. Or text one to (305) 604-0550 and we will tell you what is realistic before you come in.
Every price here is a starting price; the full menu has all of them, and the Miami Beach calendar has the rest of the season.
